Create a first artifact

Markdown artifacts live under the package-defined .drifts paths. Add this PRD at a path such as .drifts/vision/prd/product-vision-dashboard.md:

---
langdrift:
  type: prd
  schema_version: 1
  id: PRD-001
  title: Product Vision Dashboard
  owners:
    - user_42
  research:
    - RES-001
  vision_targets:
    - VT-001
---

# Product Vision Dashboard

## Purpose

Give leadership an auditable view of movement against recorded product intent.

## Open questions

- Which source observations support each change?
- Which decisions explain the movement?

The langdrift frontmatter is the deterministic envelope:

  • type and id establish the artifact identity.
  • schema_version selects the protocol version.
  • title and at least one owners identifier are required.
  • research explicitly relates the PRD to RES-001.
  • vision_targets explicitly relates it to VT-001.

The Markdown body carries rich context for people and downstream applications. The SDK preserves it as text. It does not infer identity or relationships from headings, prose, filenames, or links.

The SDK rejects unknown frontmatter fields, malformed YAML, duplicate keys, aliases, and unsupported schema versions. During reference resolution, RES-001 must resolve to a discovered research artifact. VT-001 can be supplied as an explicitly known vision-target identity; reference resolution does not perform a remote lookup.

Next, read Vision → Loop → Evidence or follow a Record into a Drift Event.
